North Plains Living was created to build meaningful connections within our community by shining a spotlight on the people, local businesses, farms, and stories that make our town special. We celebrate our rich history and the diverse culture that shapes North Plains today. Through highlighting neighbors making a difference and vibrant local activities, we aim to inspire pride, foster belonging, and bring our community closer together.
Our October Issue Is Here
Dear North Plains Community,
Our October issue of North Plains Living has officially arrived. This issue is particularly meaningful because it will be our final issue before the magazine enters a publishing pause.
When I started North Plains Living, the goal was simple: to create something centered entirely around our community—a place to share local stories, preserve North Plains history, highlight the people who live here, and give local businesses an affordable way to reach the households they serve.
The magazine has always been funded entirely through local advertising, allowing us to mail each issue to more than 3,000 North Plains mailboxes at no cost to readers. Unfortunately, advertising support has not reached the level needed to sustainably cover the ongoing costs of printing, mailing, writing, designing, and producing the magazine.
At the same time, I have taken on additional professional responsibilities outside of the magazine that require more of my time. Continuing to pursue the level of advertising funding needed to sustain each issue is simply not something I can give the time and attention it requires right now.
For these reasons, North Plains Living will pause publication following our October issue. There is currently no date set for publication to resume. During this pause, I’ll be exploring whether there is a sustainable way for North Plains Living to return in the future.
For now, I hope you'll enjoy our October issue. Inside, you'll find local stories, community updates, North Plains history, and features celebrating the businesses and people who make this community such a special place to call home.
